Indians reach district

SALINEVILLE -- No. 19 seed Southern Local topped No. 26 seed Medina Christian 62-17 on Saturday in a Northeast 4, Div. VII contest.

Allyssa Shroades led the Indians with 19 points, 11 steals, six assists and two rebounds. Makenna Jones had 17 points and six rebounds. Maddy Jones had eight points and five rebounds. Addy Martin had eight points.

Southern will travel to No. 2 seed Smithville on Tuesday in the district semifinal.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 13 seed Mapleton will travel to No. 10 seed Loudonville.

Southern is 14-9, while Medina Christian ended its season at 10-10.

Wellsville 38, Sebring 30

WELLSVILLE -- Bella Poppelriter had 23 points as Wellsville turned back Sebring 38-30 on Sunday in a Northeast 2, Div. VII sectional contest.

The game was postponed on Saturday due to weather concerns.

Wellsville, the 12th seed, will play at No. 4 seed Maplewood on Tuesday.

The Tigers are 12-11, while Sebring is 8-14.

No. 2 seed Mogadore will host No. 6 seed Kidron Central Christian on the other side of the bracket.

Mathews 55, Lisbon 43

LISBON -- Lisbon's girls basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 55-43 loss to Mathews on Saturday in a Northeast 3, Div. VII sectional game.

Rilee Paddock led the Mustangs with 22 points, while Jayden Smyth had 12 points for the No. 14 seed Blue Devils, 6-16.

No. 19 Mathews (6-17) will travel to No. 1 seed Warren JFK on Tuesday in a district contest. Middlefield Cardinal will host Lowellville in the other district semifinal.
