STEUBENVILLE -- The Beaver Local volleyball team is quietly piling up victories.
The Beavers improved to 15-4 on the season by sweeping Steubenville, 25-23, 25-16, 25-19.
Guiding Beaver Local were Adison Ketchum with 12 kills and three digs, Jocelyn Pomeroy two aces, nine kills and 12 digs. Aleia Evanko two aces, six kills, 18 assists and 13 digs, Giada Williams six kills, Eva McKnight five kills and two blocks, Lily Schrieber had four kills, Bria Boyd 16 assists and two digs. Danica Germanovich two aces and nine digs and Karsyn Bowyer had two assists and 10 digs.
Beaver Local won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-17. Leading the Beavers were Addie Thurik with five aces, five kills, six assists and six digs, Leah Schrieber five aces, two kills and four digs, Sydney McNear six kills, Taylor Pease three aces and eight assists, Eva McKnight four kills and two digs and Perri Gilson nine digs.
The Beavers made it a sweep by winning the freshman match, 25-16, 25-19. For the Beavers, Calleigh Eells had five aces, six kills, seven assists and three digs, Madison Poppelriter five aces, five kills, two blocks and two digs, Leah Schriebertwo aces, four kills, seven assists and five digs, Carlee Crabtree two aces and seven digs, Ava Nocella three assists and seven digs.
The Beavers will play at Bellaire on Thursday.
Wellsville 3, Lisbon 0
WELLSVILLE -- The Wellsville and Lisbon volleyball teams are going in different directions.
The Tigers won 25-16, 25-18, 25-18 Tuesday for their third straight victory, while the Blue Devils lost their third in a row.
Presley Stokes led the Tigers with 10 aces, 15 kills, seven assists and two blocks. Bella Poppelriter had eight kills, 14 asssists and 16 digs, Myleigh Jackson three aces, four assists, six digs and eight service receptions, Maddy Drysdale four kills and two blocks, Aleena Owens two kills, two assists and three digs and Kenzie Bosco two kills and two blocks. Olivia Edison and Kaylee Kazee each had two digs.
Wellsville improves to 13-4 and will host Southern today.
Lisbon drops to 10-6 heading into Thursday's match at United.
For Lisbon, Maddie Marshalek had five kills, three blocks and nine digs, Cheyanne Nez five kills and three blocks, Hannah Davis five aces and five digs and Stefanee Stacey four points and 11 assists.
Southern 3, Valley 0
YOUNGSTOWN -- Cheyenne Bennett totaled 20 poitns and 16 assists leading Southern Local to a 25-7, 25-14, 25-12 win over Valley Christian on Tuesday.
The Indians improve to 9-8 on the season.
Gianna Pecorelli added 11 points and two kills, Kiah Sloan 12 kills, Allyssa Shroades eight points, four kills and eight assists, Gigi Rodgers four kills and two blocks, Haylee Kellog two kills and four assists and Kennedy Lewis 10 digs.
Southern also won the junior varsity match, 25-4, 25-8, as Delaney Beadnell scored 13 points. Emerson Gotschall had 10 points and five kills, Breen Frischkorn four kills and Maddy Tsemilles two kills.
Southern will play at Wellsville today with an eighth-grade match followed by the varsity match.
