Potters blank Bobcats

EAST LIVERPOOL -- Connor Loosemore scored on a penalty kick early in the first half to give the East Liverpool boys a 1-0 win over Cambridge at Mangano Field on Tuesday.

Malachi Reed made five saves in goal for the shutout.

The Potters improve to 1-1 and will play at Minerva on Thursday.

TRIADELPHIA -- Wheeling Linsly scored a 14-0 win over East Liverpool in girls soccer action Tuesday at the Highland Sports Complex.

Jenna Jones made 26 saves in goal for the Potters.

East Liverpool (0-6) will play a Cambridge at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Ursuline 6,

Beaver Local 1

CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local's girls soccer team suffered a 6-1 loss to Ursuline on Tuesday.

Ursuline is 4-1, while Beaver Local fell to 2-1-1.

Michelle Stoneburner scored for Beaver on an assist from Taylor Fitzsimmons.

Caiden Lamp had 14 saves.

Beaver Local is at Carrollton on Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL

Southern 3, Leetonia 0

LEETONIA--The Southern volleyball team overpowered the Bears 25-21, 25-7, 25-14 on Tuesday.

For the Indians, Ashley Shroades had 24 points, 10 kills and four aces. Rylee Mellott recorded 30 assists. Aleah Bach had nine points with six kills, and Esther Forbes had eight points with seven kills.

With the win, the varsity Indians move to 4-1 on the season.

Southern will host Columbiana on Thursday.

The jayvee Indians also won 25-14, 25-13.

For the Indians, Gigi Rodgers had 13 points and five aces. Allyssa Shroades had seven points. Haylee Kellogg had two kills. Cheyenne Bennett had six assists.

The win moves the jayvee Indians to 4-0.

Oak Glen 3,

Blackhawk 0

CHIPPEWA, Pa. -- Oak Glen went over the border to down Blackhawk (Pa.) 25-21, 25-15, 25-8 on Tuesday.

Oak Glen's Sydney Smith had 12 digs, while Ashlyn Six added 15 kills and three aces. McKenzi Martin had 14 kills. Jersey Smith had 30 assists and eight digs.

The Golden Bears jayvees won 25-18, 25-13. Brooklyn Six had five kills. Haylee Stewart had three kills and two blocks. Bailey Ash had 10 digs. Kensington McConnachie had nine assists and four digs.

Wellsville 3, Valley 0

YOUNGSTOWN -- It was a quick trip for the Wellsville volleyball team as it downed Valley Christian 25-10, 25-10, 25-12 on Tuesday.

Presley Stokes led the assault with 15 kills and five assists. Alana Amato had eight kills and six aces. Brooke Hackney had eight kills and two aces. Bella Poppelriter had three kills, five aces and 19 assists. Aubri Ramsey had five aces and 10 digs.

Wellsville is 3-1 and 3-0 in the EOAC and will host Leetonia today.

Wellsville's jayvees were also winners and improve to 3-1.

United 3, Lisbon 2

LISBON -- United got on the winning track by outlasting Lisbon, 24-26, 29-27, 22-25, 25-14, 17-15, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Tuesday.

Grace Knight powered the Eagles with 21 kills, five aces and 17 digs. Zoee Smith totaled 12 kills and 17 digs and Madison Cope had 32 digs.

The Eagles improve to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the EOAC. They will host Valley Christian on Thursday.

Lisbon won the junior varsity match in two games.

Beaver 3, Edison 1

RICHMOND --The Beaver Local volleyball team knocked off Edison, 25-11, 17-25, 25-20, 25-17, Monday.

Peyton Roberts five aces, 11 kills, three blocks and 10 digs to guide the Beavers.

Briar Wolski contributed 10 kills and Shay Mackall had eight kills. Chloe Reed collected 12 digs, while Aleia Evanko and Jocelyn Pomorey each made 11 digs.

Beaver Local also won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-21, as Rylee Thomas served 14 points and Cami Starkey 10.

The Beavers made it a sweep as they won the freshman match, 25-3, 25-15. Bria Boyd and Perri Gilson each had nine points for the Beavers.

GOLF

Oak Glen tri

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. -- Oak Glen and Brooke played to a draw and the Golden Bears also beat Toronto on Tuesday at Woodview Golf Course at Mountaineer.

Oak Glen and Brooke had 185s. Toronto had a 200.

For the Golden Bears, Logan Weekley had a 47, Brady Chaney 50, Colby Vega 43 and Preston Cole 45.

Nick Cipoletti led Brooke with a 45. Ty Suffoletta and Noah Karaffa had 41s for Toronto.

Oak Glen is 7-6-1 at hosts Edison, East Liverpool and Indian Creek on Thursday.

CROSS COUNTRY

East Palestine Suburban League

EAST PALESTINE -- Heartland Christian freshman Rebecca Geiss took top honors in the Suburban League cross country girls race ast East Palestine City Park on Tuesday.

Geiss finished the 3.1-mile course in 21 minutes, 31 seconds for the victory.

East Palestine topped the six-team girls field.

Ursuline's Jarett Grodulic won the boys race in 18:26. Poland was the team winner.
