Beavers stumble against a surging Minerva

MINERVA — Minerva is ending the season with a flurry.

The Lions beat Beaver Local, 56-43, Tuesday for their third win in five days.

Minerva wraps up the regular season at 10-12, while Beaver Local goes to 13-9.

Brayden Costea led the Lions with a game-high 18 point. Connor Shingleton contributed 13 points and Brandon Davis 12.

Skylar Pappas guided the Beavers with 13 points. Austin Kline added nine.

Minerva also won the junior varsity game, 30-28.

Jackson-Milton 71, Lisbon 38

LISBON — Jackson-Milton may be done to six players, but they are six good ones to have.

Ava Darney scored 26 points and Kylie Wilson 24 in the Blue Jays’ 71-38 win over Lisbon on Wednesday.

The Blue Jays improve to 11-10, while the Blue Devils finish the regular at 9-13.

Madison Haifley totaled 14 points and six rebounds for Lisbon. Cami Freeland contributed 11 points, four rebounds and three steals and Parker Henthorne eight points, five rebounds and three steals.

There was no junior varsity game.

Both teams will host Division IV sectional finals at 1 p.m. Saturday — Lisbon will host the Leetonia-Valley Christian winner and Jackson-Milton will host the Windham-Newton Falls winner.
