SPANKS, writes a reader, to the Youngstown Diocese for not maintaining the grounds nor interior of Wellsville Immaculate Conception Church. As for the front door of the church being discovered open, THANKS that no vandalism or robbery occurred.

THANKS, writes a reader, to Hancock County Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram for cleaning up the trailer court in Newell. It had become a real eyesore and the business made good on its promises.

SPANKS, writes a reader, to an over-the-top supporter who posted flyers about a local cause in the porta johns at the Pottery Festival. The flyers included pictures and personal cell phone numbers of officials involved in the dispute. I honestly don’t know the details of the issue, but going after someone like that is juvenile. Fight the battle you believe in, but use some common sense.

THANKS, writes a reader, to Heritage Thermal Services for the financial support and volunteer work it does for our area. SPANKS to those who are trying to run another business out of our city.

SPANKS, writes a reader, to East Liverpool for not doing anything to improve Shadyside Road. It is a teeth-rattling ride.

THANKS, writes a reader, to the chairwomen who donate time to hold a pet show at the Pottery Festival. Not only have you done this for years, but you also contribute gifts and talent. THANKS, also, to the chairwomen of the chalk art contest. You always take time to talk with the children and ask what their picture represents. Thanks also to the members of the community who volunteered their time and resources to help make those commercials even better.

The Veterans City Council would like to issue a THANKS to Heritage Thermal Services for its kindness and generosity, for sponsoring the Veterans Memorial Day at the American Legion Post 374.

SPANKS, writes a reader, for those wanting to try and keep Beaver Local’s gymnasium and auditorium. Maybe they should rethink the idea and tear them down and give us back our youth baseball fields.

THANKS, writes a reader, to those participants in the Lisbon Memorial Day parade and festivities, including the veterans themselves, the Lisbon Blue Pride Marching Band, and the speakers at the cemetery.
