Ramaswamy backing shows Trump’s control of Ohio Republican Party

Editor’s note: This column was composed prior to Friday’s announcement from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost declaring it is: ... “apparent that the steep climb to the nomination for governor has become a vertical cliff. I do not wish to divide my political party or my state with a quixotic battle over the small differences between my vision and that of my opponent. I am simply not that important. I’ve spoken at length with many people whose advice and wisdom I respect, and I haven’t come to this decision quickly or easily. I am especially grateful to those who have pledged to ...

Congrats to all of our area’s 2025 graduates

The band plays, school choirs sing and parents hold steady their cellphone cameras — on silent mode, of course —as the dozens of students file down the aisle in their caps and gowns, tassels bouncing. They have entered the venue as seniors in high school. They will leave graduates — the first step toward their new future. Hugs are shared. Roses and handshakes are passed out along with diplomas. This move comes despite members of the State Central Committee not even knowing yet who might enter the race. Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel says he is considering a bid for governor. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has already made his intentions clear. ...

Do you have a favorite building or place in East Liverpool that means something special to you? I love living in an historic neighborhood in a house that my wife and I have restored. Walking downtown surrounded by all the old buildings makes me feel like I am part of the story that has been unfolding for two hundred years with hopefully many more to come. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the importance of protecting the architectural and ...
