Are you being proselyted by the Devil?

By Dr. Brian Brown 4 min read

1 Peter 5:8 NIV "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone devour."

The devil is wise in everything he does. Little do we know that he is working every day to proselyte our families. When I was a young child, I gave my heart to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. But there became a time in my life when I started to hang around with a different group of people. I remember showing up at my first baseball practice and a young man said, "Hey, Brian, it is about time you started to hang around with the right crowd." I had no idea the devil would start to break my relationship with God. I played one year of baseball, one year of basketball, one year of football and one year of track. I wanted to try a little bit of everything. I was a very curious young man. But instead of learning good sportsmanship, I learned more about how to sin. To fit in, I started to swear. If you did not swear, they would make fun of you. Then when I was offered cigarettes to smoke. I had to fit in. Praise God they tasted terrible, and I didn't like them. By the time I was sixteen, I was offered my first beer. I could get beer almost anywhere in this town. People a little older would get it for you. Parents would offer it to you. I could walk into the bar and be served. When I was eighteen, I was drinking Seagrams Seven (whiskey) and 7 Up. I bought it myself at many bars. The devil had proselyted me from the church to the world. Today, the devil is doing the same old trick with our children starting with the music they listen to. He is also telling them a lie convincing them to use pot and edible marijuana (cookies, brownies, etc.). We teach our children they need to be rich. We have thrown morality out the window, and half of the time, we promote our children to live together and have sex before marriage. Then we wonder why the church is failing. If you go to a church that stands up to the world and against its moral standards, you are mad and are ready to fire the pastor. In fact, you will stand up for someone doing a sinful act because they have money (to donate) and the church can always get another pastor. This is not the truth by any means. Pastors are becoming harder and harder to come by. A lot of pastors are quitting because no one wants to stick up for the true gospel. People are more willing to allow people who are sinners to hold positions in the church, even though they are helping Satan to go around and destroy the church with their attitudes and actions. Some preachers are not even saved. They drink, swear and sin as much as any of the others in the world. The bottom line is if you love the world more than what you love God, the love of the father is not in you. (1 John 2:5) Can I be a little strong? If you are helping the devil do his job, he will thank you when you end up in hell. On the other hand, if you stand firm to the teachings of Jesus Christ, God will say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." It was not too hard to figure out what happened to our society and how it got to where it is today. This occurred because the people advocated for sin. Jesus preached to repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand. (Matthew 4:17) We need to apologize to God for sticking up for the actions of the devil. It is a terrible thing for a person to lose their soul. Whatever the world has to offer will not last long. The world can give you trophies, money, prestige, and fame. The devil will give you whatever else you are looking for. However, on the day we stand in front of the White Throne Judgment, only the things that were done for Christ will last. There is no president, governor, or senator that will change this world. Provision for change has already been acquired by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. If your life is not going the way it should be, try Jesus. This world will not last.
