To the editor:

East Liverpool Mayor Bobby Smith is certainly trying to clean up his city. Recently they condemned and boarded up yet another drug house. I believe, in 2024, he and his administration in conjunction with the Columbiana County Land Bank tore down over 30 structures and this year they are on schedule to tear down at least 32 more!

Additionally, since Smith took office, there has been at least 40 drug raids conducted by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the East Liverpool Police. This in itself is an amazing feat!

Although I live in Calcutta, the impact the drug raids have made is a positive effect on our tri-state area and, with the cooperation of our area’s law enforcement agencies, I have seen curtailing of certain criminal activities, and that speaks volumes for the dedication and commitment these officers in our area have and I applaud them.

In todays unsettled world, it is somewhat comforting seeing Mayor Smith actually doing what he said he would do when he was first elected and I can only say my heartfelt “thank you” to our areas law enforcement officers and God Bless you and stay safe!
