To the editor:
My name is Wesley Wedgewood. I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 2012, East Liverpool. I am working on a "Communication Merit Badge." Writing to the editor of a newspaper is part of the requirements to earning the badge. Below are my thoughts.
Saturday Aug. 22, I visited the "Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center." The center contains many attractions including live animal displays and mounted animal displays. Snakes, turtles and also a contained indoor bee hive are some of the living exhibits I saw while there.
There are many rooms filled with mounted animals. From very huge buffalo and bears to very small tiny insects and bird eggs. The different collections are cared for by volunteers who are very knowledgeable and happy to share interesting facts with visitors. Special programs are offered from May through October. Check their web page for more information.
Funding for the center comes from grants, gifts shop sales, local fundraising and donations. I highly recommend other families plan a visit the center located on Echo Dell Road.
Wesley Wedgewood,
