Kind words about a ‘little town’

To the editor:

My middle son and I attended the annual Midland Sports Hall of Fame Award Luncheon, July 7th, and as usual Chris Shovlin emceed and was entertaining with his well researched biography of the inductees. The Hall of Fame committee deserves mention for their time and effort in bringing deserving nominees forth and recognized. The event was again catered by 5th Street Deli and a fine meal and deserts were provided.

Recipients of this years awards traveled from California, Florida, Iowa, Washington DC as well from our local area. It was special not only renewing friendships with so many present and past awardees but being there to see our cousin Michael Vranich be recognized for his high school and collegiate wrestling championships.

Although Midland is by many standards a small community the big hearts and burning desire to succeed within the residents is and always has been one of the many things I love and appreciate about the people there as well as our entire region.

This event capped off yet another July 4th holiday in the little town that is sometimes overlooked and overshadowed but always finds a way to stay motivated and move forward.
