Friends of Edison Golf Scramble a success

To the editor:

The 2019 Friends of Edison Golf Scramble proved to be a rousing success.

A total of 115 people gathered at the Spring Hills Golf Club in East Springfield on July 21 for the sole purpose of benefitting the Edison Local School District. Four-person teams had a chance to tee off in the golf scramble and earn various prizes. Players took part in the TS Electric Hole-in-One Challenge to sink a putt and win either a $10,000 home entertainment center or $25,000 cash, as well as prize money for the top three teams, 50-50, skins and skill prizes.

The scramble was sponsored by the Friends of Edison Levy Committee and proceeds will be used to promote the 2.1-mill emergency renewal levy that is on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.

The measure, which is for a term of seven years, would equal $1,059,000 annually and help centralize sports and school activities on the Edison High School campus in Richmond. The baseball and softball fields are currently located near Jefferson State Lake and athletes also hold track practice and meets as well as junior high basketball practice at Stanton Elementary.

None of this would have been possible without the support of the players, the Spring Hills Golf Club and the following sponsors: DeNoon Lumber, Modern Woodmen of America and Riley Petroleum Products LLC, corporate sponsors; TS Electric, hole-in-one sponsor; LM Construction, Steubenville Electrical LMCC, MS Consultants, McBane Insurance and Financial Services, Hughes Office Equipment, LLC, The Village Network, Brewer Garrett Company, Liberty Distributors, M&M Hardware, Total Sports Connection, Minerva Classic 57, Tremco Inc., Spring Hills Golf Course and Hancock County Savings Bank, hole sponsors; Gary W. Cain Realty & Auctioneers, LLC, Cryogenic Construction Inc., and United Dairy, black banner sponsors; Tri-State Printing, the Howell family, R.W. Moodie & Sons and Jerry Gast Insurance & Financial Services, white banner sponsors; and Misfit Gym of Bergholz, Crow Rental Properties, LLC, and Bergholz Supermart, gray banner sponsors.

On behalf of Edison Local Schools, I humbly thank everyone for their participation and support as the district strives to provide the best education possible for our children.

Bill Beattie,
