A big success

Editor:

Thanks to everyone — book donors, buyers and volunteers — who helped make the recent benefit book sale at Northside Community Church a success.

The sale raised in excess of $2,500, all off which will be forwarded to the Tenwek Mission Hospital in Kenya, as promised, to provide modern medical and surgical care to impoverished people in that far-off land. The cumulative total from six book sales over three years is $11,000 raised for this worthy Christian charity.

Quality books donated by many individuals and two estates, plus the ongoing donation of discarded titles from Carnegie Library of East Liverpool, provided the means for this sale. The hard work of numerous volunteers to transport and set out the many thousands of books made it possible. The promotion of literacy and reading (of actual printed books!) are additional results which gladden the hearts of readers such as ourselves and the many happy patrons who carried home bags and boxes of books for their winter reading.

Our thanks to the Northside Community Church congregation for the use of the facility and apologies for the attendant disruption of regular activities in the gym. Thanks also for those who made outright monetary donations or said “Keep the change” when paying for their books.
