Great Lenten season

Dear Editor:

My bucket list just became shorter. Everyone should see these services at least once in their lifetime.

For the first time, my children and I participated in the Wellsville Ministerial breakfast at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where the Rev. Kenny Stull was the keynote speaker and Good Friday cross walk from the Gazebo to Elevate, where the speaker was Josh Lytle. A stirring sermon and musical selections at both churches were followed by fellowship and thoroughly enjoyed refreshments.

At Elevate, we were invited to Rev. Peachey’s Baptist Church for a service led by the Deaconess’. This service include seven female speakers: 1st Lady Shannon Peachey from the Second Baptist Church, East Liverpool; 1st Lady LaTonya Rogers, First Baptist Church, Wellsville; Rev. Paulette Barner, Second Baptist Church, Steubenville; Min. Denise Taylor, Family Worship Center, Industry; 1st Lady LaShon Carson, Church of the Living God, Midland; Min. Paula Owens, Tried Stone Baptist Church, Aliquippa; and 1st Lady Karen Ross, Hope Christian Fellowship, Lisbon.

Let me tell you that these women were on fire. The service was three hours and 20 minutes long and I would not have chosen to miss one of these Deaconness speak. Everyone should see this service, it was that good. Refreshments were offered afterward but to be quite honest it was past my bedtime.

Sunday at 7 a.m. was the Sunrise Service and breakfast at Bethel Presbyterian Church — my children and I were back to our stodgy old selves in this most warm and comfortable traditional church — and again I cannot express enough gratitude to the individuals who took their time to spread the word (in many different ways) to all who cared to listen this Lenten season.
