Dear Editor:
I read a Letter to the Editor stating and talking about what they called "entitlement." Since when has Social Security or Medicare been an "entitlement?"
Many, if not all, older people worked 30-40 years to receive this money. The promise was if you work and pay into this program, when you retire, you will get an income to help you.
You notice I use the words "work" and "pay into the program" as many people are disabled and need the healthcare and the assistance from the government who are unable to work. There are many entitlement programs in the government that need to be eliminated or at least realigned, so that those older people who paid in for so many years are guaranteed what is rightfully theirs.
