Dear Editor:
In these times when there is so much negative reaction to law enforcement and other community responders, may I share with the tri-state area how blessed those of us are who live in Newell.
About 12:45 am on Tuesday, a very large portion of Hancock County was plunged into darkness. Within the next half-hour, our Volunteer Fire Department rolled out the big truck and started patrolling the community. Not long after that I saw the Hancock County sheriff deputies joined them. This continued throughout the night, until power was restored.
A big thanks to them. They do a wonderful job of protecting us. Thank you and may God bless and protect all of you.
