Dear Editor;
I feel blessed to live in a town and area where same-gender marriage is not discriminated against.
I know that with time, people’s idea of what is acceptable and not acceptable change – coming from a small town I have never had an opposition from business in this area to discriminate while conducting business.
As we can see many times day-in and day-out in the southern states, the local government officials are trying to pass anti-discrimination laws that they say will protect people in business from conducting things that are against their religious beliefs. But I feel and people should feel when you are in business you can not practice discrimination and your job as a business owner is to serve the public regardless of your personal agenda or how you feel.
There would be no difference if we as businesses discriminated against everything that was in the Bible, including divorce. Businesses should not be in the religious business. When you have a business you have an obligation to serve all people regardless of religion, race or sexual orientation.
I’m so glad we don’t have that issue here and I don’t think we ever should.
