Dear Editor:
Wow! Where are we going? What are we becoming?
The examples shown our youngsters and the public in general are unacceptable. TV news, advertisements and even movies rated A-OK have a lot to be desired. Talk about bad mannerisms, just watch the presidential debates.
Donald Trump stops at nothing. He seems to let the rule of common decency go by the wayside. What concerns me is the fact that Trump is leading in the Republican polls. How anyone can want this man as our president just flabbergasts me – get my drift?
I can’t imagine him as our leader with his arrogance, offensiveness, rudeness, conceit, and self-importance.
I think most US citizens are offended by his abusive language that he uses repeatedly. I’ve always imagined our president as the carburetor of our daily lives and he or she has to be a good person basically and a person that we citizens feel we can depend on as our leader. Our president should be someone able to befriend our allies with respect, harmony and diplomacy. Trump shows none of this – he has downgraded women and anyone who disagrees with him. His name-calling is outrageous, even saying all our nation’s leaders are idiots or worse. I know we the people didn’t select all idiots.
We try to teach our kids the wrongness of bullying and Trump is being accepted even though he’s proving to be the worst of bullies.
You know it’s not just the presidential debates, but, our public life in general seems not to be able to express themselves without nastiness, like the words hell or damn and other derogatory terminologies. I don’t understand what makes people think it’s necessary to associate bad words to describe something good. An example being, “He’s a hell of a nice guy,” or “That’s a damn good idea.” How about “holy hell” – What’s holy about that place.
President Obama said that sadly these things are becoming the norm. I hope not!
I believe we’re all responsible in making things better by, first, watching and listening to our kids and correcting them when somethings wrong, and secondly, by not voting for boisterous and braggart bullies. Trump continually boasts he finances his own campaign. So what. Those tens of millions are peanuts to him and probably tax deductible. He claims to have started at the bottom with his Dad giving him $1 million, and complained he had to pay it back with interest. I think a lot of us would like to start out with $1 million.
I’ll give Trump credit as he multiplied that $1 million several times and now he’s worth $12 billion. It takes 1,000 multiplied by $1 million to make $1 billion. He did it 12 times. And I’ll give him that, but, all that doesn’t give him the right to promote violence like telling his backers to slap or punch someone and he’ll pay the lawyer’s fee. In fact, I think it’s against the law and the same as shouting “fire” in a crowded room.
I witnessed three atomic bomb tests down in the Marshall Islands and these were the same size as we used at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, you can’t believe the awesomeness of this blast. I would fear Donald Trump seated next to that so-called button, especially with the mega bombs they have today, it would make the blasts I saw like a 4th of July celebration.
Please, use common sense and much thought when voting this year.
Don’t pump Trump, dump Trump!
Remember, whoever we have as president we’ll be just fine as out motto is “In God We Trust!”
