Patricia Bishop Allen, 90, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026. A breast cancer survivor, Pat fought valiantly against Alzheimer's disease but lost. She went peacefully in her sleep at home with Dean, her husband of 71 years, by her side.
Patricia, the daughter of Willis and Mary Bishop, was born on Dec. 14, 1936, in Chester, West Virginia. She graduated from Chester High School in 1954 and married her high school sweetheart Dean Allen in 1955. They honeymooned in Paris, France where Dean was serving in the United States Army.
After completing "their" tour, they returned to the States where Pat supported him through college and his career while raising a family.
They traveled widely and lived in cities across the United States and in Europe where they lived primarily in Germany. In Patricia's high school yearbook, she was noted as a "sophisticated lady" and she was exactly that. Her language abilities, which were acquired during her time spent living in France and Germany, enhanced that sophistication. Pat was a bonified American patriot and while not a joiner she was a proud member of the Daughters of the Revolution (DAR) and a volunteer in numerous charities and libraries across the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dana and brother Roy.
She is survived by her husband Dean; two daughters, Debbie Smith and Liz (Kent) Margulis; granddaughter Bailey (James) and grandson Griffin (Samantha); and great-grandchildren, Penny, Lily, Amelia, Asher and Wyatt, all of Kansas City.
Patricia and the family have planned no services and after cremation the remains of both Pat and Dean are to be scattered into the River Seine from the Pont De Neuf Bridge in Paris, France.
