EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio - Margaret I. "Peggy" Erwin, 85, of East Liverpool, passed away on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, at East Liverpool City Hospital.
Peggy was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on Dec. 17, 1940, a daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Wilhelm) Griffith. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1958. Peggy also graduated from Kent State with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a teacher at Southern Local Schools. Peggy started out as an elementary school teacher and then taught science and math at the middle school. She retired at the age of 60 after 30 years of teaching.
Peggy enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching hummingbirds. Peggy loved her German shepherds. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most importantly, Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister that really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding Peggy in death were her husband of 68 years, whom she married July 27, 1958, Robert L. "Bob" Erwin; son Kenneth Erwin; three brothers, Charles W. Griffith, John "Jack" Griffith and William "Bill" Griffith; and sister Marilyn M. McElroy.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Steve Erwin and his wife Susan; daughter Tracy Wilson and her husband Steven; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Robert Griffith and his wife Mary and daughter-in-law Julie Erwin.
Friends may visit Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m. Pastor Norm Eckert will conduct a funeral service 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Immediately following the service, the family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.
