ASHLAND, Ohio - Ronald G. Bolton Sr., of Ashland, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at Brethren Care Village. He was 93 years old.
Born in East Liverpool, Dec. 21, 1932, he was a son of the late Edgar and Margaret Whitney Bolton. A lifetime area resident, he retired from McIntosh Hemphill Foundry as superintendent. He was a member of the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church and Wellsville Masonic Lodge #180. Throughout his life, Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather spending quality family time, arranging family gatherings, camping, dancing, volleyball and pool time in the backyard. He loved computers, programming, and repairing small electronics and appliances. During his retirement years, he enjoyed going to estate sales, auctions, garage sales, and building his eBay business. He loved music and karaoke. Ron and his wife, Beverly, spent the later part of their lives at Brethren Care Village - Belmont Tower in Ashland, Ohio. Where he will be remembered for the music he played, the friendships he maintained, the simple pleasures he enjoyed and, most of all, the devotion he had for his family and friends. While his Alexa is now silent -- the music, memories and love he leaves behind will continue in the lives of those who knew him best.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Beverly J. Hull, whom he married on July 4, 1951; his two sons, Edgar "Dale" Bolton and Ronald G. Bolton Jr.; his son-in-law, Mike Young, and granddaughter, Crystal Geer. He was also preceded by his sisters Thelma Bolton, Tiny Milano, Ellen Wilson, Betty Mattern, Barbara Mattern, and Patsy Allen. As well as his brothers, Wayne Bolton, Bernard Bolton, Louis Bolton, and Thomas Bolton.
He is survived by a son, Chris Bolton of Arizona, and three daughters, Rhonda Geer and her husband, Don, of Ashland, Brenda Young of Wellsville, and Paula Becker and her husband, Jim, of Statesboro, Georgia; and one sister, Vivian Mautz, of Westlake. He will also be fondly remembered by his 20 grandchildren, Mike (Julie) Young, Kevin (Natalie) Young, Shannon (Ryan) Higgins, Melissa (David) Christen, Kevin (Heather) McCune, Deliah (Ron) Pillar, Brett Geer, Shane (Christy) Geer, Kaela (David) Langford, Taylor (Nikk) Cross, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Chaplain Dean Pierce will conduct a funeral service at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
