Peggy Sue Linger, 86, of Chester, on Aug. 21, 2026, joined her husband and other loved ones in heaven. She was born on Dec. 6, 1939, the daughter of the late Ray and Carrie (Hunt) Baker. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Linger and a sister Linda Wiersbicki.
Peggy was a graduate of the class of '57 of Wells High School, and was the person that made sure there were class of '57 flowers at every class members funeral. She was a member of the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ, of Chester. Peggy was outgoing and had a big heart, she shared compassion and love to many. She always had a smile and kind word, she lived her faith. Her love lives on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (David) Chesnut of Calcutta and Connie (Randy) Monroe of Chester; she is also survived by three grandchildren, Angie (Albert) Sheynkman, Joshua Monroe (Dea Riggs) and Jeremy Monroe; and two great-grandchildren, Noah Sheynkman and Dmitry Monroe. She is also survived by a brother, David (Vickie) Baker of Newell; and brother-in-law, Ed Wiersbicki of New Manchester.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ, from 11 a.m. to time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Cemetery of Newell. Nixon Funeral Home of Newell is in charge of services.
