EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- James R. "Jim" Frederick of East Liverpool passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, at Salem Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.
Born in East Liverpool, Jim was the son of the late Richard and Mary Ann Frederick. He was a graduate of Wellsville High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, Jim began his career at the former Crucible Steel and later worked with East Liverpool City Schools. Jim was a friendly and likable man who enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved gardening, camping, and woodworking, and he especially enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. He will be remembered for his easygoing nature and the simple pleasures he enjoyed in life.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sonja Frederick.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rose Ann Frederick; his sons, Kevin Frederick (Melanie), Andrew Frederick (Nichole), and Donald Possage; his grandchildren, Tauri, Xayvion, Dorothy, and Lauren; and his great-grandchildren, Charlie, Jameson, and Samuel.
Rev. Norm Eckert will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. Friends may visit from noon to 2 p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home.
Following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
