Larry E. Logston

1937-2026

Larry E. Logston, 89, of Chester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester.

Born on Feb. 3, 1937, in Chester, Larry was the son of the late Homer Logston and Roestta Ash Bebout.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Glenn Logston and step-brother, Gary Bebout.

A lifelong resident of Chester, Larry dedicated many years of hard work to Crucible Steel, where he built a career marked by commitment and dependability. He was also a faithful member of the Chester Nazarene Church, where his quiet faith was an important part of his life.

Larry will be remembered for his infectious smile, easygoing nature, and genuine love for people. A true sports enthusiast, he was happiest with a basketball in his hands or cheering on his favorite teams. Whether following basketball and baseball or stepping onto the court himself, sports were woven into the fabric of his life. Larry remained remarkably active throughout the years, spending countless hours at the YMCA, where he enjoyed working out, playing basketball, and sharing laughter with friends. His love of baseball never faded, and in his later years he proudly continued playing with Chester's Old Timers Baseball league, proving that age was never a barrier to doing what he loved.

Above all, Larry treasured his family. His happy-go-lucky personality, kind heart, and unwavering love created memories that will be cherished for generations.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Myrna Newlun Logston; his son, Mike Logston of New Cumberland; his daughter, Debra Highfield (Terry) of Chester; his step-brothers, David and Danny Bebout; his step-sisters, Patty Young, Ilene Meli, Diane Thomas (Craig), and Lena Collins; his grandchildren, Eric Highfield, Craig Highfield (Sarah Yocum), Shane Logston (Alicia), Ty Logston (MaLynn Bistarkey), and Taylor Davis (Dylan); and his treasured great-grandchildren, Aver, Alayna, Krew Logston, Ryder, Weston, and Tegan Davis.

Family and friends will celebrate Larry's life on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 3 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Stone Pear Pavilion and Valley Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and comfort they provided to Larry and his family.

Though the final buzzer has sounded, Larry's legacy of laughter, perseverance, sportsmanship, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
