Donald Reed, 78, of Wellsville, Ohio, passed away on July 25, 2026. Born May 14, 1948, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Donald lived a life built on hard work, loyalty, and love for his family -- with a little Terrible Towel-waving passion mixed in.
Donald grew up in Wellsville, where summers meant running wild on the hillside with his brothers, swinging from grapevines and getting into the kind of trouble only brothers can find together. Those hillside adventures planted something that never left him -- a closeness to family that only grew stronger with time.
For more than 40 years, Donald showed up and gave his all at General Motors. As a proud member of the United Auto Workers, he stood alongside coworkers who became lifelong friends, sharing the kind of mutual respect that's built one shift at a time.
But if you knew Donald, you knew Sundays belonged to the Steelers. Whether he was in the stands or planted in his favorite chair at home, he enjoyed every snap -- cheering, groaning, and never once considering changing the channel. Black and gold ran through him just as deep as his roots in Ohio.
Still, nothing came before his family. Donald was the one you called when you needed help, and he'd already be halfway out the door before you finished asking. He gave his time, his heart, and his unwavering support to the people he loved -- and there was no shortage of love to go around.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Dalrymple) Reed; his parents, Earl and Audrey (Kerrison) Reed; his brother, Robert (Randy) Reed; and his loyal companion, his dog Molly.
Donald leaves behind Cindy Mobley, his devoted companion of four years; his children, Tammy Hoschar, Troy Phillips, Dawn Thrasher, and Donald (Marcy) Reed; his siblings, David (Patty) Reed, Gerald (Irene) Reed, Bill (Laura) Reed, and Richard (Rhonda) Reed; his grandchildren, Zachary, Miranda, Trinity, Sheena, Skyler, Brittany, and Rebecca; and his cousin, Bobby Reed.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at MacLean Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Wellsville, Ohio, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m., with a service to follow at 4 p.m. Afterward, everyone is welcome to raise a Celebration of Life in Donald's honor at the Wellsville Eagles.
Donald Reed will be remembered as a devoted partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend -- a man who worked hard, loved harder, and never missed a Steelers game if he could help it.
