P. Joan Stacey
1940-2026
CALCUTTA – Patricia Joan Watkin Stacey, 86, of Calcutta, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Born May 27, 1940, in East Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Carrie (Banks) Watkin. Joan spent most of her life in East Liverpool but also lived in Arizona, Texas and California while accompanying her first husband during his military service. She eventually returned and called this area her home.
Joan devoted her working life to caring for others. She was employed as a nurse’s aide and dietary cook at Nentwick Nursing Home and Ross Nursing Home, where she cared for residents.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Joan was a member of Wellsville First Christian Church. She previously attended Calvary United Methodist Church in East Liverpool before making Wellsville First Christian Church her church home. One of her greatest joys was volunteering with the Good Shepherd Church community luncheons, where she served meals to those in need and shared the love and hope she found through her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith guided her life and was evident in the kindness and generosity she extended to everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stacey, who passed away in 1999 and her brothers, Gerald Bishop and Donald Watkin.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer (Jonathan) Boggs of Georgetown; her sons, James Koenig II (Chrissy) of Boardman and Michael Koenig of Calcutta; her grandchildren, Melissa (Sarah) Headley of West Virginia, Ryan Headley of Tennessee, Mason Koenig of Boardman, and Noah Koenig of Boardman; her nieces, Sherry Watkin of Wisconsin and Donna LaBarr of California, as well as a nephew, Rick (Pat) Watkin of Wisconsin.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers of Ohio Hospice, especially Rhonda and Kelly, for the compassionate care, kindness, and comfort they provided to Joan and her family during her final days.
In keeping with Joan’s wishes, private family services will be held with Pastor Mark Blakeley officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home. View Joan’s memorial webpage and express condolences online at www.dawsonfuneralhome.com.
