Janet Keller

1935-2026

Janet Keller, 90, of Chester, went home to be with her Savior and Lord, and was reunited with family in heaven, on June 15, 2026. She was born on July 28, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles and Jenny (Boso) Mills. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Rick” Keller Jr., a son Corey Keller, two grandsons, Bradley and Nathan Keller; three brothers, Wayne, Blaine and Carroll Mills, and a sister, Jean Lockhart.

Janet was a graduate of Wells High. She worked at Homer Laughlin for 20 years. She was a resident of Newell most of her life. She was the mother of seven boys. She was a lifetime member of the Newell First Church of the Nazarene, where she served a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Hancock County Museum. She was a librarian at the Lynn Murray Memorial Library. She was a past president of Jefferson PTA and member and helper with Wells Jr.High and Oak Glen boosters, and a cub scout leader.

Janet lived her faith, she helped the needy, fed the hungry and gave love to those in need. She was a hands on kind of person always taking the lead. Her love extended to all the friends that her boys would bring home, she probably fed most of the kids in town. She also fed their spirits with the word of God. The community lost a true warrior of love but that love lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by six sons, Elmer “Rick” (Caixiang) Keller III, Dan (Tracy) Keller, Tim Keller, Scott (Michelle) Keller, Matt (Julie) Keller and Jason Keller. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Michelle Keller, and a daughter through love, Heather Hutton; 17 grandchildren, Jared (Catherine), Divine, Charles, Ashlina, Maureen, Jacob (Kelsy), Cameron, Gabriel, Christopher, Aaron, Josh (Hannah), Noah (Brandi), Corey Jr., Nicholas, Nikki, Annabelle and Steven; three great-grandchildren, Eli, Ben, and Amelia.
