Donald Collins

Donald Collins, 78, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 19, 2026. He was born on June 8, 1948, the son of the late Kennedy and Eunice (Barron) Collins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Norrid; nephew, Troy Barron; siblings, Larry Barron, Sandy Barron, Terry Swiger, John Swiger, Wendy Smith, and Alma Hancock.

Don was a man of many things, a hard worker, self-taught persevered man, a carpenter, hunter, teacher, father, grandfather, but most importantly a lover. He has, and continues to touch the lives of all those around him. He loved his family more than words could say. His love, guidance, and presence were the foundation of so many cherished memories, and the lessons he taught through his actions will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come. Don faced life’s difficulties with strength, resilience, and a quiet confidence that inspired those around him. He leaves behind not only cherished moments and memories, but an example of how to live with purpose, courage, and devotion to the people who matter.

Don is survived by the love of his life, Margaret Ann Collins; children, Stacy (Tracy) Compton, Tommy (Janeen) Heath and Angela Collins; grandchildren, Payton Heath, Kendall Robinson, Jake Robinson, Dawson Robinson, Chasity Copeland and Dalton Heath; great-grandchildren, Cain, Alijah, and Kruz. He is also survived by siblings, Dave (Lottie) Barron, and Cindy (Dale) Newlun; brother and sister-in-law, Marsha (Keith) Ryan and Tom Jones; nephews, Scott (Jessica), Jackson (Amanda), Andy and Jason; great-nephews, Noah, Zane, and Cameron, and great-niece, Kaylin.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 4 to 6 p.m. and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn.
