Donald Clark Bookman

Donald Clark Bookman (affectionately known as “Shorty”), born on June 30, 1942, in East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home in Negley, Ohio, on June 17, 2026.

He was the beloved son of Margaret Susan McCullough Bookman and Clark Vernon Bookman (“Bookie”).

He was preceded in death by his brother Frank William Bookman of Atwater, Ohio; his sister Rosemary Ann Bookman Beohm of Santa Fe, Texas; and his soulmate, Linda FitzSimmon.

Shorty is survived by his brother, Gary (“Poke”) Allen Bookman of Negley, Ohio, and his sister, Marlene (“Sue”) Bookman Rubach of Dickinson, Texas.

Shorty’s lifelong passion for horses led him to a fulfilling career training and racing horses at numerous tracks across several states.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Shorty with kindness and compassion throughout his lengthy illness.

Shorty is in the compassionate care of the Arner Funeral Chapel.
