William Thomas Shafer

1950-2026

William Thomas Shafer, 76, of East Liverpool, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026. He was born on March 11, 1950, the son of the late Leonard and Geraldine (Bartell) Shafer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, and a brother, Gary Shafer.

William was a member of the Wellsville Eagles. He used to enjoy hunting and fishing and playing a guitar. He formerly worked for Bates Brothers Amusement.

He is survived by a son, William Shafer, Ohio, and three daughters, Heather and Billie Jo Shafer of Ohio and Dallas Stauffer of Ohio; a grandson, Greyson Stauffer. He is also survived by three brothers, Daniel, Leonard and Lyall Shafer.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 2 p.m. to time of service at 4 p.m.
