Gerald Lee ‘Jerry’ Cartwright

Gerald Lee “Jerry” Cartwright, 90, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Born on July 5, 1935, in Wellsville, Ohio, Jerry lived a life dedicated to his family and his unwavering commitment to the working class.
Jerry devoted over four decades of his career as an International Representative for the Graphic Communication International Union. Traveling across the United States, he tirelessly fought for better working conditions and fair wages for union members. His passion for his work was encapsulated in his own words: “My work is my life.” Jerry’s efforts left a lasting impact on countless lives and exemplified his deep belief in justice and equity for workers everywhere.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry found joy in woodworking and cherished the time spent with his family. And his beloved Cat Jasmine. He was a devoted husband to Sheryl Sailo and a proud father to his four sons: Jeffrey (Susan) Cartwright, Kevin Cartwright (Dody Johnson), Steven (Ann) Cartwright, and Jerry (Anne) Cartwright; and Dolores Eileen Cartwright, mother of his children. His legacy extends through nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Jerry’s love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Clarence “Red” Cartwright of Wellsville, Ohio. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will remember him fondly for his dedication to others and the warmth he brought into their lives.
Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind.
