EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio - Donald H. "Don" Heldman, 89, of East Liverpool, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon with his wife by his side.
Don was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on June 3, 1936, a son of the late Frederick and Ruth (Jacobs) Heldman. He was an Army veteran. Don worked as a millwright at Crucible Steel. He owned and operated the Outdoor Army Store in East Liverpool. He was an avid fan of all sports. Don enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and locally the East Liverpool Potters. Don was a past president of the Calcutta Lions Club. He also served as Governor of the Lions Club for the State of Ohio. Don also was a talented trumpet player. He received a letter from Lawrence Welk for his playing ability. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, godfather, brother and uncle that enjoyed spending time with his family.
Preceding Don in death were his brother Frederick Heldman and sister Dorothy Crooks.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, whom he married June 25, 1960, Ruby (Moore) Heldman; three nephews, Chris Heldman and his wife Mary Ellen, Craig Knight and Scott Lee Knight and his wife Kari; three nieces Linda Rolley and companion Emory, Cindy Kay James, Lana Sue Heinze and her husband Michael; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends may visit Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 10 a.m. to noon. Judy Kidder will conduct a funeral service at noon Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Spring Hill Cemetery where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will conduct Military Honors.
Following the service the family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.
