Alan Charles Boone

1946-2026

EAST LIVERPOOL — Alan Charles Boone, 80, of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 16, 1946, in East Liverpool, the son of the late William and Louella (Shonkwiler) Boone. In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Dyda.

Alan graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1964 and furthered his education at Kent State University before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in ministry from Kentucky Christian College. In addition to retiring from Timet after 32 years as an inspector, Alan was a beloved minister, primarily serving at Central Christian Church in Ironton, Ohio, North Street Christian Church in Butler, Pa., and Wellsville First Christian Church from where he retired. Following his formal retirement, Alan could often be heard preaching from the pulpit at many area churches as he would fill in for other ministers. Alan volunteered his time as a part of the Tri-State Chaplaincy program at East Liverpool City Hospital and at the Caring Hands Food Ministry in East Palestine, and he enjoyed singing in the Community Choir. He also enjoyed the church bowling and softball leagues, golfing, and traveling. Alan had the opportunity to travel to Romania to help build a children’s home. He was a former president of the LaCroft PTA and was proud of the playground they built there. Alan enjoyed being outdoors, spending hours cutting his own grass and working in his yard. Above all else, he always found the time to support his family by attending the many events of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis (Haney) Boone, whom he married Dec. 30, 1966; two daughters: Mary (Mark) Blakeley of Wellsville and Cindy (Ron) Moser of Columbiana; and brother-in-law, John (Diana) Haney. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Jordan (Tarrah) Waterfill, Joshua Blakeley, Jake Blakeley, Madison Moser, and Megan Moser; and two great-grandchildren: Charleigh and Lennyn Waterfill.

The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Wellsville First Christian Church with Alan’s son-in-law, Pastor Mark Blakeley, officiating.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday at the Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main St. in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Alan’s name to: Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main St., Wellsville, OH 43968; Elkhorn Valley Christian Service Camp, 8200 Carnation Road SE, Bergholz, OH 43908 or at www.elkhornvalley.com; or Caring Hands Food Ministry of East Palestine, 20 W.
