John H. Barnes Jr.

CANFIELD, Ohio – John H. Barnes Jr., 56, of Canfield formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at his home after lengthy battle with kidney disease.

John was born in Youngstown, Ohio on Jan. 31, 1970. He was a graduate of Terry Parker High School Class of 1988 in Jacksonville, Fla. John enjoyed being outdoors growing flowers and plants. He was a very empathetic person and cared for the needs of others who were less fortunate. John loved dogs, rescuing many stray dogs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Preceding John in death were his father John H. Barnes Sr; stepfather Kendall Johnson; paternal grandparents Kenneth and Ruth Barnes and maternal grandparents Fred and Norine Andreatta.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother Cheryl (Andreatta) Johnson; two sisters, Kristine L. Hoppel and her husband Mike and Kelly Corey; six nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and -nephews.

A private service was held by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home.
