Vicki L. Watters

1946-2026

Vicki L. Watters (nee Diddle), 79, of North Olmsted, Ohio, passed away with her husband of 56 years holding her hand. Endearing wife of Thomas V. Watters; loving mother of Scott Watters (wife Rachelle) and Shawn Watters (wife Jennifer); devoted grandmother of Samuel, Maximilian, Alexx, and Vivian Watters; cherished daughter of the late Harold T. and Mary M. Diddle (nee Wilson); and little sister to late siblings Harold “Hap” T. Diddle Jr. and Wilda “Joyce” Pitello.

Born in East Liverpool, Ohio in 1946, Vicki grew up on Lisbon Street and attended the First Free Methodist Church. After graduating from East Liverpool High School in 1964 she completed nurses training at East Liverpool City Hospital in 1968. Vicki’s compassion and kindness was reflected in her 44-year career as a Registered Nurse, most notably in Fairview General Hospital’s Kemper Coronary Care Unit, in Cleveland, retiring from Fairview in 2012.

Vicki cherished family. While raising her sons in Lakewood, Ohio, she volunteered much of her free time supporting their schools, especially Lakewood Athletic Boosters, and vigorously cheered, along with her cowbell, for eight seasons of Rangers football. She had a deep fondness for her large extended family, visiting home often. Rarely missing a family reunion or other celebration, she would travel hours to share a meal with loved ones or to simply say hello. Along with Tom, Vicki faithfully honored her parents’ and other family members’ gravesites after their passing, visiting several times each year. She prepared for decades at the anticipation of being a grandmother, evidenced by two large storage boxes in the attic, one for girls and one for boys. She was blessed with four grandchildren that she enthusiastically helped raise, nurture and spoil with daycare, sleepovers, trips to parks and museums and a whole-family vacation to Disney World. She treated lifelong friends, work friends and their children like family, as well.

Vicki loved singing, and enjoyed music from the ’60s – ’80s, especially Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel and everything Motown, attending concerts into her 70s. She expressed her creativity by crafting, hosting an annual holiday craft show in her home, and decorating for every holiday. Fun and sociable by nature, she made friends easily and was inclusive to all. She would lend a helping hand to anyone by organizing activities and decorating for parties. Vicki will be fondly remembered for her kind heart, ebullient laughter, generosity, empathy, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends and patients.

A memorial service and interment will be held this spring at Columbia County Memorial Park in East Liverpool, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Vicki to First Free Methodist Church 16260 St. Clair Ave., East Liverpool, OH, 43920.
