Edgar C. ‘Ed’ Derenburger Jr.
1946-2026
ROGERS – Edgar C. Derenburger Jr., of Rogers, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 27, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 79.
Born in East Liverpool on July 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Edgar C. Derenburger Sr. and Grace Burlingame Derenburger. He was a 1964 graduate of Beaver Local High School and worked for many years at Ferris Coal Company and XL Sand and Gravel as a heavy equipment operator.
In his younger years, he played and coached semi-professional football in East Palestine and remained active in recreational softball leagues and church sports. He carried his love of athletics throughout his life, always enjoying both playing and watching the game. Ed was known for his great sense of humor and his playful personality, often making others laugh. He was compassionate and caring in a practical, straightforward way, always advocating for the “least of these.” Never one for empty words, always ready to help, fix what was broken, or step in when needed. Generous with his time and skills, he had a natural way of teaching others through example and patience.
A man of deep faith, he lived his beliefs through his actions and how he treated others. Above all, Ed will be remembered as a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved ones. His family was his greatest joy and the center of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Drerenberger, David Derenburger, and John Alfred Derenburger.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Debbie Derenburger, Diane Jarrett and her husband Sheldon, John Derenburger and his wife Becki, Bryan Derenburger and his wife Melissa, Jessica Derenburger, and Matthew Derenburger; grandchildren, Brandon, Brianne, Bryce, Ashlea, Brittany, Cody, Josh, Alyson, Madison, Lily, and Raelee; and 17 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Margie Crowl and her husband Harry, and his sister-in-law, Sandy Derenburger.
Bryan Derenburger will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit Monday, March 30, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
