Thelma Leport, 73, of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. She was born on Feb. 26, 1952, in Huntington W.Va., the daughter of the late John and Erma (Smith) Cremeans. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald “Buddy” Leport and Joe Pine, and a brother, Randy Johnson.
Thelma was a home maker. She was always full of energy and had an infectious laugh and beautiful smile. Her and her husband Don were regulars at Chester McDonalds where many kids referred to them as grand pap and grand ma. They were known as the “coffee drinkers” at the wharf in East Liverpool. Thelma was an avid Bingo Player and many days her and Don volunteered their time in working in the kitchen at the Newell Bingo Hall. She liked playing cards and enjoyed playing the machines at Mountaineer. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Donald Leport, at home; three sons, Billy (Daneille) Pine and Eric (Tammy) Pine, all of S.C., DJ (Amber) Boyd of Rogers; four daughters, Teresa Pine of East Liverpool, Rochelle (Loren) Leport of Columbiana, Dawnyelle (Tom) Dennis of East Liverpool and Renee (Rick) Bryant, of Maine; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Gladys Arnold of East Liverpool, and two aunts, Nellie Allen and Ellie Pack.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026 at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 4 to 6 p.m. and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Private interment will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
