Sylvia Duke
1935-2026
Sylvia Duke, 90, of East Liverpool, passed away on Feb. 24, 2026. She was born on Oct. 21, 1935, the daughter of the late Carl and Sylvia (Wright) Young. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Duke; a son, Gregory Tice; a daughter, Terry Willison; a sister, Rosemary Sprouse; four brothers, Joe, Frank, Carl Jr. and Roy Young; and a companion Jack Emler.
Sylvia was retired from Metsch Refractories, and was member of the East Liverpool VFW Auxiliary and the East Liverpool Orioles. She was a kind soul that enjoyed life. She loved to go dancing, and liked to travel. Her greatest love was her family especially her grand children. She would light up the room when she entered. She lives on in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving family, two daughters, Patricia Thomas (Rich Coil), of Wellsville, and Connie (Robert) Tanley of Irondale; a son, Victor (Debra) Tice, of East Liverpool; 13 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Martha Van Kirk of East Liverpool.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 2 p.m. to time of service at 4 p.m.
