Karon Witherow

Karon Witherow, 63, of East Liverpool, passed away on Thursday February 12, 2026. She was born on December 2, 1962, the daughter of June (Bebout) Gatrell of East Liverpool and the late Dale Gatrell. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father Carl Gatrell, a brother Tim Gatrell and a sister, Beth Johnson.

Karon was a kind soul who always showed love and caring to all she knew. She enjoyed the outdoors and nature and was an avid feeder of the wild birds. Her family was her life, her friendship was genuine, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her love lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She attended the House of Prayer.

She is survived by her loving family, her husband, James Witherow, at home, two sons, James “Brandon” (Amy) Witherow and Anthony Witherow (Jessica Willison), all of East Liverpool; also survived by Jamie Haught, four grandchildren, Devon Witherow, Danica Witherow, Kiera Bittinger and McKenna Witherow and a great-granddaughter Briella. She is also survived by a sister Lorreta (David) Carrol of East Liverpool, and a brother, Brad (Joni) Gatrell, of Toronto, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 4-6 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 11 a.m. Private interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Family request memorial contributions be made to Nixon Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
