Glenda Pope
1947-2026
Glenda Pope, 78, of Newell, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2026. She was born on Nov. 21, 1947, the daughter of the late Glenn and Thurza (Rodgers) Gallaway. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn "Sonny" Galloway.
She was a graduate of Oak Glen and a Charter member of the Newell Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Newell American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and former member of TOPS. Glenda was a hard worker in the organizations she belonged to. She was very outgoing and always had a smile. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband Robert "Doc" Pope at home; a daughter, Crystal (Tim) Boyd of Chester; a son, Timothy (Heather) Pope of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Nicholas Boyd, James Logston, Drake (Ronnie) Pope, Jasper Pope, Brittney Boyd and Travis Higgins; and a great-grandchild, Alisdor. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Crystal Galloway of Chester.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell, where funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Shadow Lawn.
