Gary D. ‘Zip’ ‘Zipper’ Zimmerman

1945-2026

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio — Gary D. “Zip” “Zipper” Zimmerman, 80, of East Liverpool, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at his home.

Gary was born in East Liverpool on June 20, 1945, a son of the late Theodore and Rosina (Gruber) Zimmerman. He was a graduate of Beaver Local High School Class of 1963. Gary worked for Crucible Steel and Colt Industries until they closed. He worked as a welder for Farnsworth Engineering and as a truck driver for Mike Pusateri until his retirement. Gary was a member of the Orioles Club Nest 169, International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local Union 92, Civil War Reenactment Group Ohio Volunteer Infantry 105th Unit and an associate member of American Legion Post 70 in Wellsville.

Preceding Gary in death were his wife Carol Ann (Unger) Zimmerman; two stepdaughters, Sally Ann Mick and Rosemary Warick; and brother-in-law Edward “Bud” Unger.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister Susan Marie Singh; stepson Edward Kasunich and his companion Violette Barr; three step grandsons, Shane Kasunich, Brian Kasunich and Brad Kasunich; and two step granddaughters, Nikki Burke and her husband Kevin, Kerri Frost and her husband Sam.

A private service was held at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial at Riverview Cemetery.
