Walter V. 'Butch' Landis

1940-2026

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO -- Walter V. "Butch" Landis, 85, of East Liverpool, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon.

Butch was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on Dec. 28, 1940, a son of the late Clarence and Wilma (Higgins) Landis. He was a veteran proudly serving in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Butch worked at Homer Laughlin until his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf. Butch was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Butch enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed going to all of his grandkids' sporting events.

Preceding Butch in death were his wife of 42 years, whom he married Aug. 7, 1972, Janet Lynn (Brant) Landis and brother Roy Landis.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Lynette Marsh and her husband John; son Steve Landis; two grandchildren, Britney Reed and her husband Josh and Chaz Cunningham and his fiancee Stephanie Triner; seven great-grandchildren, Mikayla Reed, Malachi Reed, Peyton Tanner, Keegan Reed, Adalyn Cunningham, Everly Cunningham and Cole Cunningham; great-great-grandson Asher Grimes; two sisters, Barbara Arthur and Linda Armstrong; two brothers, Rick Dieringer and his wife Tammy and Douglas Landis; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Bubba Luke.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Columbiana County Memorial Park where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will provide military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hillman Cancer Center for the exceptional care that Butch received.
