Tamra K Dawson

1947-2026

Tamra K Dawson, 78, of Chester, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2026. She was born on May 31, 1947, in Sistersville, W.Va., the daughter of the late Arthur and Norma (Hays) Wharton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carles Dawson.

She retired from Weirton Steel, last working as an inventory clerk. She attended Northside Church in East Liverpool. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 49 where she served as a past Matron and a member of the Newell Rebekahs.

She is survived by her loving family, a daughter, Kim Bowman of Chester; three grandchildren, Megan (Wesley) Prichard, Leah (Jon) Anderson and John (Rachel) Bowman; four great-grandchildren, Rory, Kit, Ollie and Felix. She is also survived by a brother, Dan Wharton of West Virginia.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell, from 11 a.m. to time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Private interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery.
