Sandra ‘Sandy’ Stanley

1946-2025

Sandra “Sandy” Stanley, 79, of Chester, passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025. She was born on June 20, 1946, the daughter of the late Herman and Lillian (Kokochak) Lyons. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Ron” Stanley; two brothers, Gene and Daniel Lyons; and a sister, Pamela Robinson.

Sandy was a graduate of Oak Glen Class of 1964, and retired from Hancock County Schools. She was a member of the Hancock County School Service Personel. She attended the Everyday Church in summer months, and the Midland Valley Nazarene Church of South Carolina in the winter months and was a former member of the New Cumberland Church of the Nazarene. Sandy was a servant of her fellow man always helping those in need. She was a very active member of the community and her church, she was a Sunday School teacher and served as a Board Member, very active with the New Cumberland Food Pantry and many local community services.

She is survived by her two sons, Charles (Alexandra) Stanley, of New Cumberland, and Robert (Angela) Stanley, of Ohio; and two daughters, Veronica Stanley of Weirton and Kathryn (Thomas) Hawken of South Carolina; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Nancy Lyons and Carol Lyons and brother-in-law David Robinson.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell from 1 to 4 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in New Manchester.
