William Thomas Ross

1949-2025

William Thomas Ross, 76, of New Cumberland, W.Va., passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 at home.

He was born April 24, 1949 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Lester Neil and Virginia Irene (Chenoweth) Ross. He is also preceded in death by infant daughters Heather Marie and Jennifer Ann; an infant son. Stephan Earl Ross; and a brother, Robert Neil “Bob” Ross.

Bill retired as a self-employed general contractor; he was an Army Vietnam veteran; a former mayor for the city of New Cumberland; past commander of the New Cumberland VFW Post 3526; a hunter safety instructor and an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving is his wife Barbara Lynn (Hubbard) Ross at home; sons William Thomas Ross III of Weirton, W.Va. and James Paul Ross of New Cumberland, W.Va.; a daughter, Virginia “Gingie” (Ryan) Ford of Morgantown, W.Va.; a grandson, Cohen Ross Ford of Morgantown, W.Va.; a sister, Louanne (Ed) Huff of Milton, W.Va.; a brother, John Phillip (Ann) Ross of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Turley Funeral Home LLC has been entrusted with the care of the arrangements.
