Thomas D. Emmerling

MASSILLON, Ohio – Thomas D. Emmerling, of Massillon, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was 73 years old.

Born in East Liverpool, April 9, 1952, he was a son of the late Dale and Erla Dean Deshler Emmerling. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1970, he was a member of the basketball team. Tom worked at the former Crucible Steel Company until 1982. He then began his career at the IBPAW in maintenance and later transitioned to the print shop where he continued to work for Comtek Printing. Tom loved all sports but was especially excited about following the activities of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Lynn Emmerling, whom he married June 30, 1972. He also leaves behind his children: a daughter, Mandi Welk and her husband, Joe, of Massillon, and two sons, Todd Emmerling and his wife, Monique, of Canal Fulton, and Cory Emmerling of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. There are nine grandchildren: Darrian VanWyk, Jeffrey VanWyk (Kaley), Jyllien Welk, Nathan Thorn, Leah DeSalvo (Spencer), Garrett Brewer, Vaughn Emmerling, Nadine Rescher, and Erik Rescher, and one great-granddaughter, Gabriella DeSalvo. He is also survived by a brother, Pete Emmerling of Wellsville.

Friends may visit Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place later at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
