James L. Gibas

James L. Gibas, 79, of East Liverpool, passed away on Oct. 22, 2025. He was born on April 29, 1946, the son of the late Joseph and Pelagia (Horosnko) Gibas. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Still) Gibas.

He was a retired carpenter, working under Carpenters Local 186. He was a veteran of the Army, serving on 1099 Medium Boat Co., nick-named “River Rats,” a member of the Columbiana County Fish and Game Association, National Veterans Association and the NRA. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, but his greatest joy was his grandson, Jacob.

He is survived by a son, Joseph Gibas, of Ohio; two grandchildren, Alexis and Jacob Gibas; two brothers-in-law, Kevin and Adam Still.

Family and friends will be received on Nov. 1, 2025 at the New Cumberland Cemetery Chapel from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Military services will be held.

The Nixon Funeral Home of New Cumberland is in charge of services.
