William E. Dunlap III
William E. Dunlap III of Columbus died August 10, 2025 at Riverside Hospital. He was the son of William E. Dunlap II and Edith Bowen Dunlap, both deceased, and was 88 years old.
Bill graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1955, then graduated from Wittenberg University 4 years later. He served in the Army for 2+ years and then went to law school at Ohio State and became an attorney.
He worked for several years as an assistant prosecutor in Columbiana County, then returned to Columbus where he worked as an assistant to the Ohio Attorney General. He then served at the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, where he began as an attorney examiner, then as chief attorney, executive director, and then became a board member. After this he served as Judge for the State of Ohio Board of Tax Appeals until his retirement.
Bill was also a dedicated Ohio State Buckeye football supporter as well as an avid baseball, basketball and track fan.
A very loving husband and father, Bill leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Joycelyn; his son, Bill; his sisters Judith and Janet (Mrs. Marv Kinsey) and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Memorial Service in Columbus on Sept. 3 at Schoedinger Funeral Home.
