SHENANDOAH, Va. - Known for her kindness and unwavering strength, Laverna Mae Quinn, of Shenandoah, Virginia, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 6, 2025. She was 83 years old.
Throughout her life, Laverna exemplified the true meaning of compassion, always ready to offer a listening ear or a helping hand. But those who knew her best also knew her firm conviction, always speaking her mind with wisdom and clarity.
Born on August 29, 1941, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Laverna dedicated much of her life to her family, where she was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Her heart was always open, and her words were always true. She taught those around her the value of honesty, kindness, and resilience, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations.
She leaves behind her children: Judith Hernandez (Lorenzo), Kathy Leek, Donna Wilmoth (James), Marybeth Raymondo (James), Janice Adams, Julie Stewart, and Burl Quinn (Donita); grandchildren: Emery Starkey, Leslie Miranda, Jamie Jackson, Megan Leek, Tabitha Raines, Amanda Cox, Elanie Clause, Noah Clause, John Clause, Cheyanna Adams, Ian Stewart, Dalton Stewart, Kayla Knight, Hayden Quinn, and Payden Quinn; great-grandchildren: Kenseth, Kolsen, Tinley, Isaiah, Aaliyah, Ariana, Zachary, My'ela, Makayla, Abby, Jace, Addison, Katrina, Alex, Max, Lily, Aiden, Carter, Peyton, Olivia, Addison, Jayme, Riley, Kylie, Eli, Jodeci and Riella; a great-great grandchild, Rhyker; siblings; Gary Kraft (CeCe), James E. Kraft, Tom Kraft (Lydia); Marylou Pridemore (Larry), Patty Henson (Mark), Diane Parrish (Bill); her bonus granddaughter, Abbi Sellers; several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Laverna was preceded in death by her parents James E. Kraft and Mary Wilson Kraft; her brothers, Frank and William (Bill) Kraft; and her grandsons, Dustin Cole Stewart and Michael Keith Leek.
Though Laverna is no longer with us, her wisdom, love, and strength will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Friends may visit Friday, April 11, at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Rev. Norm Eckert will conduct a funeral service Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Shadow Lawn Memorial Gardens in Newell, West Virginia.
