1963-2025
Jana Lynette Mason, 62, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 27, 1963, the youngest of seven children. She was the daughter of the late Robert Thomas Mason and Alice Faith (Withroe) Mason. In addition to her parents, Jana was preceded in death by her brother, Robert C. Mason, and sister, Cassandra Hoffman. She is survived by her siblings: Bonnie Rosenbaum, Willard "Woody" (Myrtha) Mason, Patrick Mason, and Timothy (Tami) Mason. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jana graduated from Wellsville High School and did post-secondary work at Kent State University, at the main campus and the East Liverpool extension. She worked for many years at the Hudson Book Store in Pittsburgh International Airport, a job she enjoyed and one she excelled at, being an avid reader.
Jana had a wide knowledge of music, popular and classical, and enjoyed going to concerts with her family and friends. She was a fan of movies, in particular those of the Marx Brothers, and peppered her conversation with quotes from them. An intrepid traveler, she enjoyed visits to New York City, London, Colorado, and New Mexico.
She was a loyal companion to her mother her entire life until Alice's death in 2007. Jana will be remembered fondly by all who knew her for her dry wit and uncanny memory of family history.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Rev. Amy Gopp of the Kent United Church of Christ officiating.
Family and friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St. in Wellsville.
