1924-2025
Carol Virginia Dankel Wick (Mrs. James M. Wick) born Dec. 25, 1924 in Youngstown, daughter of Howard A. Dankel and Helena Walp Dankel, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2025.
Mrs. Wick graduated from Rayen School in 1942 and Lake Erie College in 1947. Following college, she worked as the Assistant Director at the Youngstown Office of the Pittsburgh District Dairy Council until her marriage to James Manney Wick in 1950.
She was a longstanding member of the First Presbyterian Church of Niles, serving the church in various capacities including Elder, Board of Deacons, and Moderator, Presbyterian Women. She also served as trustee of the McKinley Library Board from 1969 until 2013. Her tenure with the board included serving as board vice president for many years. She was a member emeritus of the Junior League of Youngstown, and a longstanding member of the Quest Club of Niles, the Garden Club of Niles and the Niles Beautification Commission. Mrs. Wick especially enjoyed leading tours and assisting with children's art classes as a docent with the Butler Institute of American Art.
Mrs. Wick is survived by her daughter Mary Ann (Bob) Wynd of Worthington; her son David (Brandon) Neese Wick of Chicago, Ill.; grandson Ryan A (Kate) King of Columbus; granddaughter Alex (Ben) Crowell of Miamisburg, Ohio; step-grandson Nathan Wynd of Columbus; and great-grandchildren Esmund King and Sasha Crowell.
Her husband James, son James Jr., and brother Howard A Dankel Jr. preceded her in death.
